Warm days, clear skies, and more food & drink than you can imagine. DETAILS sent our Executive Stylist Liam McKessar on a culture-packed, 48-hour whirlwind tour in search of the best of New Orleans. Here we dive into day two…Image_1   Wake-up call: we kick off the day’s proceedings at HiVolt on Sophie Wright Place, one of New Orleans’ favorite coffee spots - don't miss the cold-pressed juice!Image_2 Treat yourself: try the mouthwatering Vegan / Gluten free (and locally made) donuts on offer at HiVolt Image_3_ver2 On the move: observing the locals while exploring the Mairgny Triangle district on our way to breakfast. Image_4_ver2 Horn’s, a neighborhood favorite, happily continues a 50 year tradition of classic service of  New Orleans cuisine– décor ten points!Image_5_ver2 Breakfast of champions: we ordered the ‘Crabby Wife’ (two eggs on top of a crab cake soaked in crawfish étouffée). Delicious! Thanks Horn’sImage_6 Exploring the historic St. Louis Cemetery No.1. One of three Roman Catholic cemeteries in the New Orleans area, number 1 is the oldest and most famous - opened in 1789. Fact: Nicolas Cage purchased a tomb in 2010 to secure his final resting place.Image_7 Throwing some shade: I made a quick stop at ‘The Sun Room’ on Common St to check out KREWE du optic - a locally based (and made) eyewear company by Stirling Barrett.Image_8_ver2 Trying it on: KREWE du optic celebrates the individual style and culture of New Orleans (one frame at a time). We loved the ‘Olivier’ framesImage_9 Lunch time: we stopped by the recently opened Purloo on Oretha Castle Haley Blvd for an amazing taste of southern flare (we loved the artichoke and grits).Image_10 Art district: cruising down Julia St we made a stop at Arthur Roger Gallery , the oldest running gallery in New Orleans. Occupying a converted warehouse space, their current exhibition of aluminum works from 87-year-old artist Lynn Emery is an amazing edit of her kinetic sculptures.Image_11 Sound advice: by local recommendation we swung by Disko Obscura, a perfectly curated record store on St. Mary Street - offering a dream selection of classic and collectible synth-based records.Image_12_ver2 Happy Hour: Latitude 29 on North Peters St serves up a wild Tiki-style mix of island-inspired cuisine and cocktails. Do not go past the Piña Colada!Image_13_ver2 Menu must-haves: whilst at Latitude 29 start off with the Taro chips, but be sure to order the ‘Shrimp in Blankets’, daily selection of dumplings, and Vegetable Poke. Delicious!Image_14 Last drinks: winding down after a jam-packed 48-hours at Bar Tonique. The drink of choice? A New Orleans Sazerac – a perfect combination of Absinthe and Cognac.Image_15_ver2

Warm days, clear skies, and more food & drink than you can imagine. DETAILS sent our Executive Stylist Liam McKessar on a culture-packed, 48- hour whirlwind tour in search of the best of New Orleans. Intro Slide   Starting the day right: an order of banana pancakes, the green breakfast sandwich and an ABC juice at Satsuma was a great Idea!Slide 1   One for the road: grab a homemade muffin on the way out, we have a big day ahead of us. Thanks for the hospitality Satsuma!Slide 2   A quick pit stop: FRIEND menswear boutique on Magazine Street is a must for the stylish man. Shop a sleek edit of local and international threads curated by Parker Hutchinson.Slide 3   Keep it local: We loved these relaxed styles from local designer Anatomy by Allen Van Norden. Slide 4   Best in the business: our sales associate, Rob at FRIEND, keeps it real.Slide 5   The vetiver-based unisex scents from SMOKE Artisan Perfume Oil, by local perfumer Kathleen Currie are a must try at FRIEND.Slide 6   Southern charm: spanning French Creole, American Colonial and Victorian era - the city’s architecture is amazing.Slide 7   Leisurely lunch: Arriving at BALISE on Carondelet street, we are greeted by artwork from well-known southern artist, Butch Anthony.Slide 8   Out of this world: without a doubt the best raw oysters I have ever tasted, accompanied here with a spicy mignonette & cocktail sauce.Slide 9   Next course: the shrimp & grits with oyster mushrooms, heirloom radish, peas, fine herbs & white wine butter made BALISE an extremely memorable dining experience!Slide 10   Close shave: I stopped by legendary barber, Aiden Gill on Magazine street for a postlunch beer and shave. An absolute must-do whilst in town, Aiden offers the finest shave in New Orleans.Slide 11   Old world charm: Aiden’s barber shop is fitted with original and mint condition steamers, barber chairs and cabinetry - making the experience as charming and authentic as his witty banter.Slide 12   Do try at home: I am relatively new to the process of a close shave- not being overly experienced with a razor myself, Aiden sent me home with a batch of his custom-made shave oil. Needless to say, I am looking very smooth faced.Slide 13   Dinner is served: a new addition to the culinary offering in New Orleans, RED’s Chinese brings an intriguing blend of local flare to a traditional Chinese menu. We opted for the ginger Scallion noodles, confetti rice and delta broccoli - none of which disappointed.Slide 14   Quench your thirst: the cocktail menu at RED’s Chinese is not to be overlooked. Make a beeline for the frozen watermelon or a spicy red rita!Slide 15   After hours: an evening in New Orleans would not be complete without a little jazz, right? Located on lively Frenchmen street in the Marigny Triangle, The Spotted Cat is the perfect end to an evening in New Orleans.Slide 16

3 ROAD TEST: At DETAILS we love an Italian accessory, so when the Giuseppe Zanotti Spring/Summer 2015 samples hit our fashion closet it's hard not to try a few on. A few notable favorites: the Regiment backpack in a super luxe moss green suede, and of course the Royal loafer with embroidered crown motif. Both fully DETAILS endorsed. 1

Maybe you've heard (or are unfortunately living it in the northeast like us) - winter is in full swing, and we're reminiscing of sunny days in LA, shooting with one of our favorite DJs: Zen Freeman. IMG_1967 If he's not on your radar, he should be. Zen's a staple at red carpet events and sold out international festivals. He's toured with the likes of Calvin Harris, Paul Oakenfold, and Tiesto, been invited to perform at Cannes, Sundance, and Toronto International Film Festival, and recently he joined an acclaimed lineup of residents at LiFE nightclub in Las Vegas following a two-year residency at Hakkasan in LV. But he's not just a DJ... and it's likely you saw the internet burst into flames with the release of "Dance Bitch," his collaboration with Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul (!!). Zen_253 Download or stream one of his recent live-event playlists below from Art Basel Miami Beach - another take-me-back moment of sunshine and fun HERE.
